The course is self-paced. Some students move through it quickly, while others take their time and work through lessons gradually alongside other commitments.
The course is filmed mostly from a point-of-view angle, so you’re seeing the jewellery-making process from my perspective as I work. This makes it feel more realistic and similar to working alongside me or looking over my shoulder as I work.
Each lesson varies depending on the topic and has been filmed to be clear, digestible, and free from unnecessary fluff.
Just a small desk or bench. This course is designed for everyday home setups.
No. You only need a soldering iron to work with wax.
No. You sculpt the wax and send it to a professional casting house. They pour the metal and send back your raw jewellery and you will learn how to refine the design at home using a rotary tool.
The course includes casting house recommendations for your country, along with guidance and templates to help you contact them.
To start, only require a few key wax sculpting tools:
- jeweller’s wax
- soldering iron
- ring mandrel
- ring sizer
- masking tape
- basic file
- craft knife.
Introduce tools for metal refining and stone setting gradually as you move forward in the course.
You’ll receive your design in raw metal form. From there, you’ll complete the final steps at home, including sanding, polishing, and stone setting.
The premium course covers prong (claw) setting, bezel setting, and cast-in-place techniques.
Costs vary depending on the metal and casting house. Sterling silver rings can start at around $20-30 AUD, gold is more expensive, while brass or bronze are affordable options for practice.
