WHAT IS LOST WAX CASTING?

It is an ancient technique still used today to create rings, pendants, earrings, and other accessories from wax.

the lost wax process in 4 steps

  • Sculpt your design in wax.
  • Send to a casting house.
  • Receive your solid metal design back.
  • Clean it up & polish.

How Casting Houses Pour Metal

  • Wax is placed into a casting flask.
  • Investment is poured into the flask & hardens around the wax.
  • The flask is heated to melt and remove the wax, leaving a cavity that’s an exact replica of the model.
  • Molten metal (silver, gold, brass, bronze) is poured into the cavity to form the final design.
  • The casting house sends your design back as a raw metal piece, ready for you to sand and polish.
