Come sculpt your own one-of-a-kind ring from wax in this beginner-focused organic ring making workshop on the Sunshine Coast.
In this relaxed, hands-on jewellery making class, you’ll use a soldering iron and specialised jeweller’s wax to melt, layer and sculpt beautifully organic forms using the lost wax build-up method.
You’ll be guided step by step throughout the process, with plenty of freedom to experiment, play around and add your own creative twist to your design.
During the workshop, you’ll create your ring entirely in jeweller’s wax. After the class, we’ll take care of turning your wax design into metal. Your ring will be professionally cast into solid sterling silver, refined, polished and returned to you within approximately 4–6 weeks from the workshop date.

Please note: This workshop focuses on the wax sculpting stage of lost wax jewellery making. Casting, refining and polishing are completed for you after the workshop and are not taught during the class.

LEARN TO SCULPT UNIQUE, ORGANIC JEWELLERY
This is not your typical jewellery making class! This 2-hour workshop introduces you to lost wax casting, an ancient jewellery making technique where designs are first sculpted in jeweller’s wax before being transformed into solid metal. You’ll learn the foundations of wax sculpting and we will melt, layer and sculpt wax to create beautifully organic, molten forms. By the end of the class, you’ll have sculpted your own unique wax ring, with the opportunity to add your own pizzazz before we take care of the casting and turn your exact design into solid sterling silver!

Hi, I’m Cass! I’m the founder and jeweller behind Metal Bones. After teaching lost wax jewellery making to students around the world online, I decided to bring my take on jewellery making to the Coast! My approach to jewellery design has always been very much on the non-traditional side. I love organic, molten designs and the freedom that comes with sculpting in wax, and I’m confident you’ll love it too. I hope these workshops open a creative door for anyone who might not consider themselves naturally artistic, but has a wild imagination and plenty of creative energy.

Yes! You will be fully supported and able to carve and sculpt your first ring from wax with ease. No prior jewellery making experience is needed.
The goal of the workshop is to sculpt one ring from wax. You’ll be guided through creating the ring band, then have the freedom to experiment with your own textures and details.
No. After the workshop, your wax ring will be handled by Cassandra, who will arrange for your design to be professionally cast into solid metal, capturing the detail of your original wax piece. Once cast, Cassandra will refine and polish your ring before returning it to you approximately 4 weeks after the workshop.
After the workshop, your wax model is sent to a professional casting facility. Once your silver casting is returned, it will be refined and polished before your finished ring is delivered to you.
You’ll provide a postal address on the day of the workshop. Once your ring has been cast, refined and polished, your finished piece will be sent to you with tracking via Australia Post.
Your workshop ticket includes professional casting of your design in up to 10g of sterling silver. For your first wax design, it is recommended that you cast in sterling silver before casting in gold. If you love your finished design, a silicone mould can be made from $110, giving you the option to recreate your design in gold down the track.
No. This workshop focuses on designing and carving a metal-only ring and does not include stone setting.
You don’t need to bring anything. All tools and materials are provided. Bottled water will also be available on the day.
Yes. The workshop is run in a controlled environment and focuses on gentle wax carving and low-temperature wax melting with the use of a small soldering iron. No gas torches, kilns, or large exposed flames are used during the workshop.
Cancellations or rescheduling requests made more than 72 hours before the workshop are eligible for a full refund or reschedule. Cancellations or changes of mind within 72 hours of the workshop are non-refundable.
