WHAT IS LOST WAX CASTING?
It is an ancient technique still used today to create rings, pendants, earrings, and other accessories from wax.

the lost wax process in 4 steps
- Sculpt your design in wax.
- Send to a casting house.
- Receive your solid metal design back.
- Clean it up & polish.

How Casting Houses Pour Metal
- Wax is placed into a casting flask.
- Investment is poured into the flask & hardens around the wax.
- The flask is heated to melt and remove the wax, leaving a cavity that’s an exact replica of the model.
- Molten metal (silver, gold, brass, bronze) is poured into the cavity to form the final design.
- The casting house sends your design back as a raw metal piece, ready for you to sand and polish.

2 stages of lost wax
- Stage 1: Sculpt your wax design.
- Stage 2: Refine & finish your metal piece.
In this course, you will be guided through both stages.
You can practice wax sculpting without casting right away - just start with wax tools and get metal tools later.
