Handmade organic wax jewellery ring sculpted by Metal Bones student Sasha

Sasha is a current Metal Bones student based on the Gold Coast, with a love for handmade, irregular forms and discovering her own style through wax jewellery making. Originally from Argentina, Sasha has been exploring wax sculpting as a hobby, creating meaningful pieces while sharing her journey online.

We recently caught up with Sasha to hear more about her wax jewellery journey, the inspiration behind her designs and where she hopes to take her creativity next.

How did you first get into wax jewellery making?

I found a short workshop near my home on the Gold Coast and I loved it.

What style of wax jewellery do you love creating most?

I like hand made irregular forms, I’m still descovering what I like, but I want to my pieces reflect every personality

What has your wax jewellery journey been like so far?

I have been practicing as a Hobby because I really want to enjoy the process of discovering my style and share this with people in social media. But I would like to build a business in the near future.

What is your favourite wax design you’ve created and why?

I did a sun pendant. I just built it melting the wax and playing around. I love it because I’m from Argentina and my flag has the sun in the center. I also did match rings for me and my partner in silver. Love them so much

What advice would you give to someone nervous to start wax carving?

Just start doing something and connect with your self, let your self flow and the art inside you will show up. Feel that you can create something is amazing, a piece of jewelry can have endless value.

What did you enjoy most about the metal bones lost wax jewellery course?

I love it because I had the opportunity to learn from home and get to know the tools and also have a simple kit to start. Also, despite I don’t interact all the time and I haven’t shared my work too much, I know I can always be supported by Cass and other people who is in the same process. The videos are quite easy to follow and Cas is always reminding us to be kind with ourselves, this is not easy at all.
